arod.jpg Congratulations to Alex Rodriguez for winning his third MVP award today. Alex Rodriguez had one of the best seasons in the history of baseball. This year he hit .314, with 156 RBIs and 56 home runs. He was walked 95 times and he stole 24 bases. His slugging pct. was also .645. A career high.

Alex Rodriguez was the first player since Rodger Maris in 1961 to lead the Majors in home runs, runs batted in and runs scored. He and Babe Ruth are the only Yankees to ever hit 50 HRs and 150 RBIs in the same season. He was also the first Yankee since Maris and Mickey Mantle to hit 50+ HRs in a season.

Rodriguez hit a milestone home run this year when at 31, he became the youngest player ever to hit 500 home runs. Rodriguez has is also the sixth Yankee to win the MVP award twice.
