In Lebron James’ first game back in Detroit since dropping 48 in a double overtime game last season, Lebron had an extremely mediocre return.

James sprained his left index finger in the second quarter and did not return. Without James, the Cavs didn’t stand much of a chance getting blown out 109-74.

The Pistons downplayed thoughts that this was a revenge win. “A win is a win,” said Richard Hamilton, who led Detroit with 18 points. “LeBron is a big part of their team, but they’ve still got five guys with an NBA jersey on the court.”

• Yao Ming had 31 points and 13 rebounds, helping the Houston Rockets beat the Phoenix Suns 100-94 Wednesday night for their third straight victory.
• Josh Childress scored six points in a 13-2 run midway through the final quarter and the Atlanta Hawks broke open a close game to take a rare 96-80 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.
• Jose Calderon has 13 points and 10 assists to help Toronto top Memphis, 103-91, despite losing both Chris Bosh and Andrea Bargnani to injury.
• Carlos Boozer scored 12 of his 26 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Utah Jazz to a 106-95 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers.
• Tony Parker had 29 points and 11 assists to help the San Antonio Spurs beat the Washington Wizards 109-94.
• Dirk Nowitzki had 27 points and 11 rebounds, Devin Harris scored 22 points, and the Dallas Mavericks snapped a three-game losing streak with a 109-103 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
• Mike Dunleavy had 20 points and 11 rebounds and the Indiana Pacers held off the Portland Trail Blazers 95-89.
• Dwight Howard dunked, blocked and dominated Seattle’s undersized frontline for a career-high 39 points and 16 rebounds, and the Orlando Magic beat the SuperSonics 110-94 on Wednesday night for their NBA-best 14th win.
• Stephen Jackson made two 3-pointers in a 20-second span late in the fourth quarter and Monta Ellis had 22 points to rally the Golden State Warriors to a 103-96 victory over the Sacramento Kings.

Rays and Twins Close to a deal

The Minnesota Twins and the Tampa Bay Rays are close to making a six player deal that would include Delmon Young and Matt Garza.

This would be a great deal for both sides because the Twins recently lost Outfielder Torii Hunter to the Angels and need to replace his hitting in the outfiend. The Rays, who have a surplus of outfielders, are in bad need of pitching. Both of these players are great prospects and if Delmon Young can keep his temper under control he has all the tools to be a great player.

Young, 22, hit .288 with 13 home runs and 93 RBIs in his first full major league season. Garza, 24, was 5-7 with a 3.69 ERA in 15 starts for the Twins in 2007.

he list of suitors for Johan Santana is just getting bigger and bigger. Right now that list includes the Yankees, the Red Sox, The Mets, and the Angels. In order to get Santana your going to have to give up a lot though. So who looks like they have the best shot right now?

The Red Sox, Angels, and Mets all have a lot of money to off Santana for a potential long term contract after his contract expires this year but the team that has the best shot right now is the Yankees. The New York Yankees have a lot of young talent that they can potentially deal to Minnesota and as always, they have the most money to offer any superstar player.

The Twins haven’t even confirmed that they will be trading Santana but if they do, expect to see him in Pinstripes next year.

As if football players didn’t have enough possible injuries to worry about when they step on the football field, Auburn DB was bitten by a security Dog against their game last weekend against Alabama. Maybe The dog was a Bama Fan, I dont know but check this one out.

Powers was ok besides the minor battle scar:

After successfully defending a long pass during the fourth quarter, Powers was bitten on his left hand by a police dog stationed beyond the end zone. The sophomore celebrated by mimicking the referee’s signal for an incomplete pass, which the dog interpreted as an aggressive act.

“I saw blood coming out of my glove. I started panicking,” Powers said. ” I was looking toward the sidelines and I was screaming, ‘The dog bit me,’ the next three plays. When I went into the training room I was like: Do I need a rabies shot? Then I thought about it and it is a federal dog. I’m sure he’s the cleanest dog in America. I’ll be sure to wash it out real good.”

LoL. So I have advice for anyone reading this, if you ever happen to be a Kansas State game, and the croud is holding a couch, DONT JUMP ON IT. I apologize to this guy that I didn’t post this sooner.

• Pavel Datsyuk had two goals and an assist to lift the Detroit Red Wings to a 5-3 win over the Calgary Flames on Tuesday night.
• Mats Sundin scored his 400th goal but it wasn’t enough for the Leafs. Alex Kovalev scored two power-play goals, then found the net again in the shootout as the Montreal Canadiens beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3 on Tuesday night.
• Ryan Kesler scored two power-play goals, and Roberto Luongo made 15 of his 26 saves in the first period to lift the Vancouver Canucks to a 4-0 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night.

Lebron takes over in OT to beat Celtics

Nowadays, it seems like it is always a big deal if the Celtics lose. The Cavs handed the Celtics only their second loss of the season last night in a 109-104 win over Boston. Lebron James took over in the overtime period scoring 11 points for a total of 38 points in the game.

It was a team effort because Lebron took over in overtime but Drew Gooden kept them in it in the 3rd and 4th quarters. He ended up with a season high 24 points and 13 rebounds. The Cavs big 3 in James, Gooden and Zydrunas Ilgauskas outscored Bostons big 3 of Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce 77-64.

• In a game of Todays top superstar Kobe Bryant vs the future of the NBA Kevin Durant, Kobe outshined the yungun scoring 35 as the Lakers topped the Sonics 106-99
• Luol Deng scores 22 points, Ben Gordon adds 21, and the Bulls snap their four-game losing streak with a 90-78 victory over the Hawks.
• The unfriendly confines of the Izod Center tripped the Nets up again Tuesday night as they lost their fifth straight game at home, falling to the Memphis Grizzlies.

Sean Taylor died early Tuesday morning after being fatally shot on Monday.

There was some optimism that he would pull through after falling into critical condition on Monday. Doctors stated that he responded by squeezing their hand when they asked him to. Everyone thought that he might be able to pull through but unfortunately it was reported that he died very early the next morning.

A situation like this really makes you put life into perspective. Sean Taylor was only 24 years old and despite the fact that he had his problems in the past, many people who were close to him stated that he was growing a lot since the berth of his 1 year old daughter. It is unfortunate because now she will never get to know her father.

Police are investigating this homicide. When more develops it will be reported on SportFiends. My condolences go out to his family and all of the Redskins. The NFL will honor his memory in every game this week.
