Red Wings take the matchup with the Canadiens
In a matchup between two of the original six teams in the NHL, the Red Wings took the game powered by Pavel Datsyuk's two goals. The fact that the Canadiens had a rookie in the goal probably help. Rook Carey Price did the best he could but the Red Wings attack was too much for him as the defeated the Canadiens 4-1.

- Vinny Prospal scored in the fourth round of a shootout for the Tampa Bay Lightning in a 4-3 victory over the visiting Ottawa Senators, who have now lost seven games in a row.
- Wade Belak scored a rare goal and Vesa Toskala stopped 34 shots to help the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Nashville Predators 3-1.
- Dustin Boyd's first goal of the season broke a tie in the second period and sent the Calgary Flames to a 3-1 win over the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday night. Boyd banked the puck off the backside of Blues goaltender Hannu Toivonen. It was a bad break for the Finnish goaltender who was otherwise spectacular in the middle period as Calgary outshot St.
