Sean Avery hospitalized with lacerated spleen: Karma is a bitch

So it's not bad enough that the Rangers lost the game on Wednesday but later on that evening, their resident bad boy Sean Avery was rushed to the hospital after he suffered a lacerated spleen.

Avery, 28, arrived at St. Vincent's Medical Center about 3 a.m., a hospital source said. Five hours earlier, the Rangers lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins in a Stanley Cup playoff game at Madison Square Garden.

Avery's mother, Marlene, told the Toronto Sun that her son had a collision with a Pittsburgh defenseman in the first period and played the rest of the game with a lacerated spleen.

Sounds like a pretty bad night for Avery. This just goes to show you that what goes around comes around. It will always catch up to you. Somewhere, Martin Brodeur is laughing.
