Annika Sorenstam is calling it quits

The LPGA’s version of Tiger Woods is calling it a career. Annika Sorenstam announced yesterday that she is going to retire after this season.

The 37 year old Sweedish golfer is widely considered the best female golfer.  Tiger Woods even went so far as to call her the best ever. 

When she held her press conference she just spoke from the heart.

“I have made a decision to step away from competitive golf after this season,” she said at the Sybase Classic. “Obviously this was a very difficult decision for me to make because I love this game so much. But it’s the right one.”

She will be missed. Even less people will watch female golf now.
