Padres 0 - Cubs 4: Ryan Dempster considered Greg Maddux a mentor when he was playing for the Cubs. In yesterdays game between the Cubs and the Padres, the disciple outshined the mentor. Dempster finished the game with 12 strikeouts and stifles the Padres bats for 8 and 1/3 innings to lead the Cubs to a 4-0 win.
Yankees 2 - Rays 5: I don’t think anyone saw this one coming. About 45 games into the season, The Rays are in first place in the AL East and the Yankees are in last. Scott Kazmir showed that he was worth the new deal that he got by shining in 6 scoreless innings to lead the Rays to the 5-2 win over the Yankees. Akinori Iwamura and Shawn Riggans also added homers off Ian Kennedy to help the Rays win for the seventh time in eight games.
Tigers 4 - Royals 8: The Royals are owning the Tigers this season. The Royals beat the Tigers 8-4 yesterday to give them their second straight sweep against the stumbling Tigers. Gil Meche pitched seven strong innings and Jose Guillen contributed a home run and drove in 3 runs to to help the Royals to the win. Weren’t people saying the Tigers were supposed to be good this year? Currently they are in last place in the division and they’re getting their asses handed to them by the Royals.
Rockies 5 - Diamondbacks 8: At this rate, Brandon Webb just may end this season with 30 wins. He got another win for the Diamondbacks last night over the Rockies with their 8-5 win. Webb leads the majors with 9 wins.
