Pedro Martinez may retire at the end of season and not for the reason you may think

So Pedro Martinez is not talking about about early retirement, maybe even as soon as the end of the season.
No it is not because he is hurt all the time or because he washed up, even though I'm sure those factors contributed. He is actually considering retirement so that he can be with his family during a tough time.
His father has brain cancer and is very sick and wants Pedro to be there for his family.
"It's taking a toll on me and my family, my dad's situation," Martinez said, referring to a form of brain cancer afflicting his 78-year-old father, Pablo. "I haven't been there for them. I just realized that between last year and this year I haven't been there for my family, my parents.
"That'll probably drag me away from the game a little sooner than people expect.
"After this season, I'm going to go back home and think about it and I'm going to decide."
It's interesting that he says between this year and last year because he been hurt most of that time. If there was ever a time for him to be there for them it would've been between this year and last year.
Despite these issues with his family, Pedro could be back from his hamstring injury as early as next week. We all wish his family well.
