Last night there were two plays in college basketball where they called fouls with under a second to go and the foul shots ended up determining the outcome of the game.  I never condone talking bad about the refs but they really blew these calls last night.  First was the Rutgers/Tennessee game.  The girl definitely fouled her but it looked like time ran out but the lady vols got the call mysteriously.  They were playing in Tennessee so go figure.

Then there was the Villanova/Georgetown game.  This was the worst.  I hate Nova but they really got the shaft on this one.  There was a foul called 70 feet from the rim.  He had no time to pass it and no time to get off a decent shot.  Also, looking at the play it didn't look like there was any contact and if there was, it was initiated by the Georgetown player.  PLUS, the ref was all the way on the other side of the court.  You can't make this call.

In a surprising move, Bob Knight resigned today as the coach of Texas Tech. He let on no indication that he planned on resigning as the Coach so this comes as a huge shock to everyone. The winningest coach in college basketball history leaves behind a legacy of wins, national championships, profanity and angry refs who got cursed out.

Texas Tech will be coached by his son who he announced a few years ago would be his successor there. This decision came so soon so that the Texas Tech players would be able to learn Pat Knights new system by next year and so that at the beginning of next year, everything wouldn't be completely new to them.

“I’ve never really known when I was going to step down from this job. As I thought about it, my first thought was at the end of this season,” Knight told the Lubbock paper. “My thinking was .. the best thing for the long run for this team would be for Pat and his staff to coach these remaining 10 games.”

I don't know that Bobby Knight will never coach again but if this is the end of the road for him, thank you so much for all the memories. All the young people you touched, or hit or cursed at. Bobby Knight was the most self absorbed, ignorant, crude, white trash coach in history but we loved him for it and he was able to become one of the greatest coaches ever. So Kenny George is a beast.  This guy is 7-7 and 360 pounds and he bigger feet than Shaq's.  My head could probably fit in his size 28 shoe.  He leads the nation in blocks, mainly because he has an 8+ foot wingspan.  He doesn't need to jump to dunk at all, all he has to do is stand on his tippy toes.

Despite the fact that Tyler Hansbrough is nearly a foot shorter than this guy, Tyler got tired of getting picked on by this giant.  He decided to go around him and dunk in his grill:

So it was a rough game for the Ohio St Buckeyes last Monday against the LSU Tigers. Maybe the fact they the cheerleaders failed english class had something to do with it.

People should have seen it as a sign that it was going to be a long night for the Buckeyes when the cheerleaders leading the Buckeyes out to the fields couldn't even spell Ohio right. Guess they forgot to pull out their spellcheckers.

LSU Tigers 2007 National Champs

The LSU Tigers are the 2007 National Champions after their shallacking of the Ohio State Buckeye's last night. After falling behind 10-0 early the Tigers went on to score 31 unanswered points and didn't look back. The final score was 38-24.

Here's a video of the party in downtown New Orleans after the victory. The party looks pretty whack but check out how good this kid dances. They probably got him drunk.

So now the debate starts, Is LSU actually the best team in the country?

College football is the only sport where it is constantly criticized about who is the best team and why certain teams were not included. I don't know how much criticism college football needs to take before they realize that their system is very flawed.

USC and Georgia each had legitimate complaints this year. Each of those opponents would have made a better opponent last night than OSU. You can even make an argument for West Virginia after they completely handled Oklahoma in their game last week.

There needs to be some sort of playoff or plus 1 system in college football. The main excuse they use is that they don't have money but I don't understand that considering that they manage to have a 64 team basketball tournament every year.

In West Virginia's upset of Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl tonight, FB Owen Schmitt had a record setting 57 yard run, the longest in Fiesta Bowl history as well as the longest of his career. According to announcer Matt Vasgersian, Owen Schmitt resembled a "beer truck." Thats a first, lol. Check it out.

Congrats to the Oklahoma Sooners.  You are champions of ESPN's fake college football playoff.  It's a good idea to have a playoff but not a good idea to waste our time with this stupidity.  I guess they are just running out of things to talk about on ESPN.  Heres a video:

According to Bobby Petrino, this was his "dream job." He woke up to find a team that is 3-10, with a quarterback going to jail and a team that has a hard time rallying around his system. So what does Petrino do? He runs. According to reports, Petrino resigned as the coach as the Falcons after 13 games NFL games. What ever happened to the captain going down with the ship??

Petrino took the job as the new head Coach at Arkansas shortly after. After hearing rumors that he might headed to Arkansas, Falcons owner Arthur Blank asked Petrino about it and Petrino lied saying that he was planning on being with the team next season.

After being named the head coach at Arkansas in a late-night press conference in Fayetteville, Ark, he even did the school's "Woo Pig Souey" chant - complete with cheerleaders - after his opening remarks. DeAngelo Hall of the Falcons had some comments about the whole situation:

I just wish people would be a straight up about their coaching decisions (hint hint Les Miles). It is what it is.
