bryant_080311.jpgLakers 117 - Raptors 108

The Lakers have won 18 of their last 22 games. The Raptors don't have Chris Bosh. It's not hard to guess who would come away with this win.

Kobe Bryant played his normal role of fourth quarter assassin by scoring 10 points in the last 8 1/2 minutes to lead the Lakers to a 117-108 win at home against the Raptors.

With this win the Lakers have scratched their way back to the top of the Western conference. Just like every week in the Western conference though they probably won't be in the lead in a few days. They have a very tough four game road trip coming up where they face the Hornets, the Rockets, the Mavs and the Jazz. We will learn a lot about this Laker team and if they can win at least 2 of 4 they should consider it successful.

Trail Blazers 103 - Timberwolves 96

Two years ago Minnesota drafted Brandon Roy but traded him to Portland for Randy Foye. Oops. Now Foye may still turn out to be a good player if he can get past all the injuries he's suffered in the early part of his career and in college but Roy is becoming a star in this league.

The Wolves could've definitely used Roy's cool under pressure attitude in last nights game. The Trail Blazers were happy to have him. He played his biggest in a 12-2 fourth quarter run that gave the Blazers the 103-96 win over the Wolves. He continued to get to the basket to either score easy buckets, get free throws or get open shots on the perimeter for his team.

The Blazers played so good down the stretch it knocked Al Jefferson right out of his shorts, literally.

NBA Wrap: Suns actually win?!? Pistons are in the playoffs, Beno Udrih > Kobe Bryant?

shaq_080309.jpgSuns 94 - Spurs 87

So this is why the Suns felt they needed Shaquille Oneal. This is the exact reason. They wanted to be able to beat the Spurs. Now if only they could beat anyone else than we might actually call it a good trade.

Shaq scored 14 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to help the Suns beat their bitter rival Spurs 94-87. Shaq provided the Suns with the toughness inside that they'd really been lacking over the last few years. Shaq was hustling all over the place, at one point he even dove into the stands, catching a fan with a elbow to the mouth. Ouch. He said he was just tryin to avoid the kids. Good thing for them he did.

Pistons 116 - Bulls 109

The Pistons got a nice scare in this one. They almost lost a key starter to injury. Much to the dismay of the rest of the Eastern conference, Tayshaun Prince got back up and he was even better than he was before scoring 15 points in the final 17 minutes of the game to help the Pistons to a 116-109 win over the Bulls.

"I couldn't feel my hand, and I knew that wasn't good,'' said Prince, who was injured on a third-quarter foul by Larry Hughes. "I thought I was going to have to shoot my free throws one-handed, but I got enough feeling back to make the shots, and then I hit a 3, so I figured I would keep going.''

Fortunately for the Pistons Tayshaun should be fine.

Kings 114 - Lakers 113

4.6 seconds remaining and Beno Udrih was at the free throw line with a chance to put the Kings up against the hated Lakers.  He knocked down both free throws giving them a slim lead.

Everyone in the arena knew who would be getting the ball for the Lakers and he did.  Kobe Bryant took the ball and tried to drive it down with only seconds left but ran into a double team brick wall.  Instead he tried the fadeaway.... and missed.

The Kings managed to step up against the Lakers for the 114-113 win, in LA.  Now if only they could beat teams like the Wolves at home.

Sorry about no updates today

Ok so lately I have trying to be more and more focused. I've been really trying to concentrate on my buddhist practice and really trying to focus on my personal goals. I have been chanting for one hour a day and I have been getting these crazy benefits.

So as anyone who reads my blog knows, I have been struggling financially. It is what it is though. I recently got this crappy job working at the Methodist hospital, and its been a struggle to keep all of my utilities on and have my rent paid every month. I've been hangin in there though, updating the website regularly and winning in my practice and my website.

So anyway, I got some crazy benefits this week that I will post about tomorrow and I will post some more updates also.  I spent my whole day working towards kosen rufu and I have to get up tomorrow, work on my website some and go to sleep.

NBA Wrap: Texas teams keep winning just won’t lose… except the Mavs

t-mac_030708.jpgRockets 113 - Mavericks 98

So it's pretty nice living in Houston right now. Theres a big buzz about the Rockets even though they are without Yao, no one is worried. The Rockets are ballin right now.

Last night the Rockets went into Dallas and put a beatin on the Mavs (which is always a good thing), 113-98. The play that pretty much sealed the deal for the Rockets was an alley oop from Rafer Alston to Tracy Mcgrady in the fourth quarter. Afterwards, T-mac looked over at the Mavs bench and just smiled.

Spurs 108 - Pacers 97

The Spurs are another Texas team that has just been playing off the chain lately. They won their 11th straight game last night in their 108-97 win over the Spurs.

Their success has been mainly due to the fact that Manu Ginobili has been the best 2 guard in the league over the last month and a half (besides Kobe). Ginobili had another stellar game last night scoring 28 points on 10-13 shooting.

Ginobili's play in the game was great but his defense on his irate coach could use some work.

“I tried to box him out,” Ginobili said of his unsuccessful attempt to block coach Gregg Popovich, who was ejected. “I could have done better.”

Bulls 107 - Cavaliers 96

LeBron had a little bit of heat left over after his 50 point night in New York.  He had a big first half with 26 points but shot poorly in the second half and the Bulls pulled away for the 107-96 win.  LeBron can't do it alone every night.

NBA Wrap: Celtics clinch playoff spot, James drops 50 in NY, Suns continue stumbling

kg_080305.jpgCeltics 90 - Pistons 78

The Celtics are in the playoffs. Wow, before this season I didn't think I'd say that this century but they are in after their 90-78 win over the Pistons at home last night.

Kevin Garnett led the way for the Celtics scoring a season high 31 points and this great play to just kill the pistons.

Cavaliers 119 - Knicks 105

Stephon Marbury's return to MSG was overshadowed by LeBron James, by far. LeBron came in to MSG last night and dropped 50 points, 10 dimes and 8 boards to lead the Cavs past the knicks 119-105.

Fans in New York finally had something to cheer for, LeBron James, went 16-30 from the field with 7 three pointers. One fan got extra excited and decided that he just had to meet the star. He ran onto the floor toward the Cavs bench and said a few things to LeBron before he was escorted out of the building by security and arrested.

LeBron James' night was so good, he even got a chance to chat with Jay-Z. Must be nice to be able to rub shoulders with Jigga like that.

Nuggets 126 - Suns 113

Carmelo Anthony dropped a double double on the Suns which led the way for them in their 126-113 win over the Suns. Melo had 30 points and 13 rebounds.

Melo caught some flak for being just an average rebounder at 6'8.

"I always kid with him about not being a rebounder, being so big,'' Allen Iverson said. "I say, 'If I was your height, I'd get a double-double every night.'''

With Iversons toughness I beleive it. Melo is pretty good anyway.

Mikki Moore has a fetish for holding big snakes

No really, he has a fetish for holding big snakes in his hands.  Get your mind out of the gutter.  I am actually talking about the reptiles.  This is a funny video though because of the quotes like "I have a snake four times that size."  We'll let the host of the show be the judge of that.

NBA Wrap: Lakers stay hot, Suns get back on track, Spurs quietly win 10th straight

kbryant_080304.jpgLakers 117 - Kings 105

Last night in the Lakers game against their long time in state rivals the Kings, Kobe Bryant got a mixed reaction in Sac-town. Some of the crowd was booing him everytime he touched the ball but some of the crowd was also yelling "M-V-P!"

I don't know what he payed more attention too but he used it all as motivation to take over in the fourth quarter, as we've grown accustom to from him. He finished with 34 points but he scored 17 of those points in ridiculous fourth quarter performance that led the Lakers to the 117-105 win over the Kings.

Pau Gasol also scored 31 points and Lamar Odom finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds.  He has been flying under the radar but I think that the way he wanted it.  Since the Gasol trade he has played out of his my mind.

Suns 97 - Blazers 92

The Suns went up big on the Blazers in this one, so you'd think that they would cruise to a win right? Building up a 23 point lead is usually a good sign but when you've been playing poorly, anything can happen, including nearly blowing a 23 point lead.

The Suns were trying to avoid losing their third straight game and despite a late run from the Blazers, they managed to hold on for the 97-92 victory.

Apparently the commissioner David Stern watches TV on two televisions, classic.

Spurs 81 - Nets 70

You know your playing well when you can shoot poorly and defend poorly and you still win the game. Even though the Spurs were guilty of both last night, they still managed to continue their win streak by beating the Nets 81-70 at home last night. The Spurs have the quietest win streak going right now.

The Spurs are currently in first place in the West and have won 10 games in a row.  You probably wouldn't even know it but they are just quietly going about their business and making their late season push like they usually do.

NBA Wrap: Nowitzki knocks out AK47, Paul comes up big in the clutch

ak_080303.jpgJazz 116 - Mavericks 110

Utah lost one of their starters, and lost a big lead but they still managed to hold on long enough for a win.

The Jazz went on a momentum changing fourth quarter and knocked down all 18 free throws in the fourth quarter, to help them to the 116-110 win over the Mavs at home. This helped them to maintain the best home record in the lead and leave them near the top of the Western conference where they need to be if they want to have a chance to go anywhere.

The crowd didn't appreciate Dirk Nowitzki in the first quarter and the rest of the game after he fouled Andrei Kirilenko hard and took him out of the game. AK47 is ok though, he got X-rays on his hip and they were negative.

Hornets 100 - Knicks 88

This was actually a close game, until late in the fourth when the Hornets went on a 10-0 run to end the game, not a bad way to close out a game.

Chris Paul had a hand in three of the clutch baskets that solidified to Hornets 100-88 victory over the Knicks. Paul scored two of the baskets himself and got the ball to Tyson Chandler for an alley oop.

No one can question David Lee's hustle, but just like a lot of Knicks, sometimes he tends to help out the other team more than his own.
