Marc-André Fleury falls: I guess Fleury is nervous

First time here? Subscribe to my RSS feed. Also Check out the Team Store and rep your squad. Thanks for visiting!

Penguins goalie Marc-André Fleury must’ve before game 1 of the Stanley Cup finals yesterday because as he was coming out to the game, he fell flat on his face.

Give him credit though, he got back up quickly and tried to play it off.  Too bad you were caught on camera homey.

NHL Wrap: Turco stones the Wings… We’re going to game 6

marty-turco.jpg

Ok so a lot of people probably thought that this series was over when the Red Wings took a 3-0 lead (myself included) but the Stars are going out without a fight. Last night Marty Turco did all that he could do to make sure that the Stars wouldn’t be going home early or at least not tonight.

Turco made 38 saves to help the Stars to the 2-1 victory in the all important game 5 last night. Throughout his career, Turco has never been effective at the Joe, going 0-9-2 in his career. Those odds didn’t bode well for the visiting Stars who were already down 3-1 in the series going into last nights game.

The Stars pulled it together with goals from Trevor Daley and Joel Lundqvist to put them up.

The series is now a series again and game 6 will be Monday. The Red Wings are claiming that they aren’t feeling any pressure but I bet you they are. Thats what the 2004 Yankees said and look at what happened. If the Red Wings don’t win game 6, they aren’t going to win the series.

Mike Ribeiro slashes Chris Osgood: Ribeiro is a sore loser

It doesn’t look like the Stars, Mike Ribeiro really wants to win this series.

Moments after yesterdays loss to the Red Wings, Ribeiro let his emotions get the better of him.  He slashed Red Wings goaltender Chris Osgood across the chest from behind the net.  This will almost definitely cause him to miss at least one game in the series due to suspension.

Now before you crucify Ribeiro, you have to know the Osgood did start it by using his stick to poke Ribeiro as he skated by but Ribeiro should’ve just let it go.  Check out the video.

Don Cherry is a snazzy dresser

Ok so I know we all usually appreciate the whilin outfits that Craig Sager wears but he’s got nothing on this cat from Canada, Don Cherry.

He made his debut on ESPN this week to do hockey commentary and he didn’t say anything that anyone who has been following the playoffs doesn’t already know BUT he did come on wearing this…

What was he thinking? I guess thats what they rock in Canada. I dunno.

He also found time to insult all hockey town fans by calling Detroit a “Redneck town.” Now I’ve never been there but I imagine that they wouldn’t like that too much.

Sick goal by Henrik Zetterberg

When things are going right for your squad then you can make plays like this.  Watch this crazy goal by Henrik Zetterberg, he shot it, fell down and as he was falling, still managed to shoot and score it top shelf… you can’t fuck with this…

Sean Avery hospitalized with lacerated spleen: Karma is a bitch

seanavery-hurt.jpg

So it’s not bad enough that the Rangers lost the game on Wednesday but later on that evening, their resident bad boy Sean Avery was rushed to the hospital after he suffered a lacerated spleen.

Avery, 28, arrived at St. Vincent’s Medical Center about 3 a.m., a hospital source said. Five hours earlier, the Rangers lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins in a Stanley Cup playoff game at Madison Square Garden.

Avery’s mother, Marlene, told the Toronto Sun that her son had a collision with a Pittsburgh defenseman in the first period and played the rest of the game with a lacerated spleen.

Sounds like a pretty bad night for Avery. This just goes to show you that what goes around comes around. It will always catch up to you. Somewhere, Martin Brodeur is laughing.

Senators Spartan intro: Sens are down 0-3 because of this guy

Ok so this may have been one of the worst intro’s to a game in history. I guess this was the Senators way of trying to motivate the team but instead it just turned out to be unbelievably embarrassing for the Sens and for hockey in general.

Terrible idea, annoying actor, ill-fitting helmet, microphone difficulty, lasted way too long. Other than that, it was awesome. The worst part about it is that they still lost the game and now they are down 3-0 to the Pens.
