Patrick Thoresen released from the hospital: He’s going to keep both of his testicles

During the exciting first round matchup between the Flyers and the Capitals last night, Flyers Winger Patrick Thoresen put his body on the line to stop a potential shot by one of the Capitals. I’m sure that he wasn’t planning on it almost costing him as much as it did.

Thoresen was hit in the groin area and of course, was in a tremendous amount of pain and to add insult to injury, the Caps ended up scoring on the play. Thoresen was still on the ground in pain at the time. Thats how you take one for the team. Heres a video of the injury:

It was initially thought that he might have to have a testicle removed but fortunately for him the tests came back negative and both his balls will be ok. He was released from the hospital today and could be back for game two.  Let this be a lesson to all of you, don’t be like this idiot, always wear a cup.

Ovechkin’s game winning goal: Alexander Ovechkin saves the day in game 1

ovechkin-gamewinner.jpg

Alexander Ovechkin’s first playoff game was definitely memorable. He was held in check the whole night. The Flyers managed to hold Ovechkin to no shots on goal until the late in the third period. When he finally got his opportunity he made sure to capitalize on it.

With the score tied and under 5 minutes to go in the game Ovechkin stole the puck and scored the go ahead goal for the Capitals which proved to be the game winner. The Caps took game 1 5-4 over the Flyers.

Not a bad way to start off your playoff career.

Jack Johnson nearly kills Ryan Smyth

Another very scary moment in the NHL this season…. I’m sure this one hurt a lot.

Best news of the Day: Richard Zednik released from the Hospital

rich-zednik.jpgAfter one of the scariest injuries I’ve seen in a long time, Richard Zednik was released from the hospital today. Thats whats up.

If you didn’t see this injury, Zednik got cut in the throat by his own teammates skate. He lost five pings of blood and He said that he barely felt the skate slice into his throat, but all the blood that gushed out of his neck told him that he was in trouble. He immediately got up and skated to the bench as fast as he could.

If he didn’t skate over there in time, it would’ve been a wrap for him.

“I knew I was in trouble,” Zednik said. “I didn’t feel anything, but there was just so much blood. I was like, ‘Whoa.’ I knew I had to get to the bench.”

Glad to see that he’s ok. Peace.

Very Scary moment… Richard Zednik gets his throat cut by a skate

richard zednik

Ok. I’m a really squeamish kind of person so seeing all this gore shit kinda disgusts me but heres goes nothing.

Florida Panthers forward Richard Zednik had to get surgery today after his neck was deeply cut by a teammates skate.

Blood gushed from Zednik’s neck after he was cut about halfway through the third. Very scary moment. As a result the game was delayed for about 15 minutes. The craziest part is that after his neck was sliced. He had the wearwithall to get his ass up and go to the bench. That may have saved his life. Heres the video:

Ugh… Just watching that video gives me the shivers…. Zednik went to the hospital later that night. He is currently listed in stable condition.

Sidney Crosby’s first fight

sid.jpgDon’t mess with Sidney Crosby. No, I’m serious don’t mess with Sidney Crosby… Stop laughing! Just ask Andrew Ference. In the Penguins game against the Pen’s the other night Ference tried to fuck with our man Sid the Kid but he wasn’t having it.

Sidney Crosby got into his first fight of his career and probably his last but if it was then it wasn’t too bad of a showing. He got Ference pretty bloody. Not to mention that he also had 3 points in the game. I’d say it was a nice way of getting out of his mini slump.

Here is the video and again remember, don’t mess with pretty boy Sid. Ok you can start laughing again…

Marian Gaborik’s 5 goals

Ok so I know this is from a couple nights ago but it still worth mentioning. Marion Gaborik is a beast?! I had no idea. I had never heard of him before the other night but now everyone will know who he is. Two nights ago he scored 5 goals in one game against the Rangers. Rough night for the Rangers.

This was the first time one player had 5 goals in a game since 1996. Check it out
