Crosby doesn't show up in the big city

Things haven't been going so great for the Penguins lately. A night after getting owned by the Flyers in Philly 8-2, the Pens rolled into New York hoping for a different outcome, their hopes didn't come true. They were completely outplayed in every way and lost to the Rangers 4-0.

It was clear that this was going to be a long game for the Pens early. Within the first two minutes the Rangers had already scored, don't blink.

Gomez netted two as the Rangers dismantled the Pens 4-0.

• Jason Spezza scored a pair of goals to lead the Ottawa Senators to their sixth straight win, 3-2 over the Boston Bruins in a matchup of the Eastern Conference's top two teams. Luke Richardson's goal broke a 1-1 tie midway into the second and Spezza scored his second goal on a power play in the third.
• Carolina's Scott Walker scored in overtime after the Hurricanes scored twice in the final 1:25 of regulation to give Carolina a dramatic 3-2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs.
• Peter Mueller scored at 6:25 of the third period to break a tie and help the Phoenix Coyotes to a 3-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers. Mueller punched in a rebound during a wild goalmouth scramble after goaltender Marty Biron had turned away shots by Zbynek Michalek and Steven Reinprecht.
• Garnet Exelby, Mark Recchi and Slava Kozlov each scored first-period goals and the Atlanta Thrashers went on to a 6-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning, ending their four-game losing streak.
• Jarome Iginla scored his team-leading 24th goal and Miikka Kiprusoff made 36 saves to help the Calgary Flames beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-1 and extend their winning streak to a season-best sixth in a row.
• Jozef Stumpel and Brett McLean scored first-period goals and Tomas Vokoun made 23 saves, leading the Florida Panthers to a 3-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens.
• Marian Gaborik, Eric Belanger and Brian Rolston all scored in the third period to bring the Minnesota Wild back from two goals down and beat the Nashville Predators 3-2, giving coach Jacques Lemaire a victory in his 1,000th career game. Nashville, which has lost four straight, led 2-0 after two periods on goals from Jason Arnott and J.P.
• Sergei Zubov scored the only goal in a shootout to give the Dallas Stars their fourth straight win, 2-1 over the Edmonton Oilers.
• Markus Naslund overcame the flu to score twice and Roberto Luongo returned from a rib injury to make 31 saves, leading the Vancouver Canucks to a 5-0 win over the New Jersey Devils.
• Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 20 saves in his first shutout of the season, and Corey Perry scored in the Anaheim Ducks' 2-0 victory over the San Jose Sharks.

• John Madden scored two goals and Martin Brodeur made 29 saves, including a game-turning penalty shot stop, to lead the New Jersey Devils to a 4-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers.
• Joe Thornton beat Jean-Sebastien Giguere with a shot high to the stick side to lift the San Jose Sharks to a 2-1 shootout victory over Anaheim on Sunday night and spoil Scott Niedermayer's return to the Ducks.
• Defenseman Jay Bouwmeester recorded a goal and an assist to end an eight-game stretch without a point, and Tomas Vokoun made 44 saves in the Florida Panthers' 3-1 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks.
• Calgary's top line of Jarome Iginla, Kristian Huselius and Daymond Langkow combine for 12 points as the Flames win their fifth in a row, 5-3, over St. Louis.
• Despite the flu, Coach Wayne Gretzky enjoys a return to Madison Square Garden with a 5-1 rout by his team, the Coyotes, against a team he once starred for, the Rangers.

Havlat leads the Blackhawks to victory

Martin Havlat scored twice, and Patrick Sharp and rookie Jonathan Toews each had a goal and two assists to help the Chicago Blackhawks end a season-high, four-game losing streak with a 6-3 victory over the Los Angeles Kings.

• Injury fill-ins Mason Raymond and Jason Jaffray assisted on each other's first NHL goals and the Vancouver Canucks -- without forward Brendan Morrison -- beat the Anaheim Ducks 3-2.
• Dany Heatley had two goals and an assist, leading the Ottawa Senators to a 6-0 rout of the Carolina Hurricanes. Ray Emery and Martin Gerber teamed to post Ottawa's second shutout of the season. Jason Spezza had a goal and two assists, Dean McCammond added a goal and an assist, and Mike Fisher, and Shean Donovan also scored.
• A week ago, the Columbus Blue Jackets beat Colorado in a wild, end-to-end game. Last night, they won again -- this time with their defense. Fredrik Norrena stopped 15 shots, and the Blue Jackets shut down the Avalanche en route to a 4-1 victory.
• Milan Lucic scores the go-ahead goal off a rebound with 3:47 remaining and Alex Auld wins his third straight start for Boston, leading the Bruins to a 5-3 victory over the Atlanta Thrashers.
• With sporadic flashes of brilliance from Brendan Shanahan, Martin Straka and Scott Gomez, the Rangers managed a point in the standings. But the Capitals ultimately were rewarded with a 5-4 victory in overtime.
• Ales Kotalik has a goal and assist, Ryan Miller makes 28 saves and the Sabres score three goals in the second period to beat the Islanders, 5-3.

Red Wings take the matchup with the Canadiens

In a matchup between two of the original six teams in the NHL, the Red Wings took the game powered by Pavel Datsyuk's two goals. The fact that the Canadiens had a rookie in the goal probably help. Rook Carey Price did the best he could but the Red Wings attack was too much for him as the defeated the Canadiens 4-1.

• Vinny Prospal scored in the fourth round of a shootout for the Tampa Bay Lightning in a 4-3 victory over the visiting Ottawa Senators, who have now lost seven games in a row.
• Wade Belak scored a rare goal and Vesa Toskala stopped 34 shots to help the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Nashville Predators 3-1.
• Dustin Boyd's first goal of the season broke a tie in the second period and sent the Calgary Flames to a 3-1 win over the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday night. Boyd banked the puck off the backside of Blues goaltender Hannu Toivonen. It was a bad break for the Finnish goaltender who was otherwise spectacular in the middle period as Calgary outshot St.

• Brad Boyes broke a tie with 58 seconds left, and Manny Legace made 20 saves in the streaking St. Louis Blues' 4-3 victory over the Buffalo Sabres.
• Mike Knuble had a goal and two assists to help the Philadelphia Flyers beat the Carolina Hurricanes 3-1.
• Dainius Zubrus scores with 9:03 to play to help New Jersey beat Dallas, 4-2, extending the Devils' winning steak to five and ending the Stars' winning streak at six.
• Mike Sillinger scored the go-ahead goal in the third period and then added the winner in the shootout to help the New York Islanders snap an eight-game losing streak against the Ottawa Senators with a 3-2 victory.
• One thing went through Florida Panthers goalie Tomas Vokoun's mind as he traded save after save with Washington Capitals goalie Olie Kolzig in a shootout that went on and on and on. The Panthers were able to come up with victory over the Capitals, 2-1.
• Marian Gaborik scored his fourth goal in four games and the Minnesota Wild beat Phoenix 3-1 handing goalie Ilya Bryzgalov his first loss in five games with the Coyotes.
• Martin Havlat scored two goals in his first game back from a right shoulder injury, and Nikolai Khabibulin made 21 saves to lead the Chicago Blackhawks to a 5-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning.
• Milan Hejduk and Joe Sakic each had a goal and two assists to help the Colorado Avalanche beat the Edmonton Oilers 4-2.
• Patrick O'Sullivan and Anze Kopitar followed up their regulation goals with shootout scores, and the Los Angeles Kings won for the third time in San Jose this season, 3-2 over the Sharks.

• Pavel Datsyuk had two goals and an assist to lift the Detroit Red Wings to a 5-3 win over the Calgary Flames on Tuesday night.
• Mats Sundin scored his 400th goal but it wasn't enough for the Leafs. Alex Kovalev scored two power-play goals, then found the net again in the shootout as the Montreal Canadiens beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3 on Tuesday night.
• Ryan Kesler scored two power-play goals, and Roberto Luongo made 15 of his 26 saves in the first period to lift the Vancouver Canucks to a 4-0 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night.
