Buzz Bissinger hates blogger too: What else is new

First time here? Subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

H.G. "Buzz" Bissinger who is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author of Friday Night Lights was on a panel with deadspin blogger Will Leitch to discuss the future of Journalism and about how the face of sports media is changing. That didn't happen though.

What was supposed to be an intelligent, adult conversation turned into nothing more than an old guy crying about how bloggers are idiots.

"This guy, whether we like it or not, is the future," Bissinger said, while pointing his finger at Leitch. "The future in the hands of guys like you is really going to dumb us down to a degree that I don't think we can recover from."

Of course he has no source of information, he didn't know the difference between a blog post and a blog comment and honestly, I'd be surprised if he has ever actually read a blog in his life.

This is just another example of an old white guy who is angry about the fact that the world is changing and that there are more voices out there now to compete with. In the past, it was nothing but old white guys talking to other old white guys and Bryant Gumbell, but now the youth of this nation have a voice. Nevermind appreciating that there is more room for discussion and the fact that the people actually love it, they'd rather go on rants where they make themselves look like idiots.

I commend Leitch for maintaining his composure and not sinking to this guys level. It only made him look worse.

Watch NBA playoffs live on with PC: The best PC Satellite TV software

My cable is cut off again. I couldn't afford to continue paying ridiculous amounts for Cable TV but being the Sport Fiend that I am, I had to watch my sports. What to do what to do.

A friend of mine told me about a service that he has been using for a few years called Satellite TV for PC. I gotta admit, at first I was very skeptical. I thought that it would be too good to be true but I didn't want to miss any of the action going on in the sports world so I figured I would just give it a shot and see what happens.

My first impression was great. I made my payment and I was able to download the software and have it up and running within a half hour. I have had a few minor issues getting some channels along to way but the support team that they have is great.

Satellite TV for PC turned out to be an even better investment than I thought because I was able to watch all the NBA games I wanted and right from my computer. Normally you would have the pay the cable or satellite companies even MORE money to get that kind of access not with Satellite TV for PC.

Overall I'd say that I am thoroughly satisfied with my purchase and I was very very skeptical at first. I would give this service 5 stars and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is planning on watching the crazy NBA playoffs. This year is going to be even better than last year.

The Dangers of being a TV reporter: I’ll stick to blogging

Here is a hilarious video of various news reporters being owned in one way or another.  I'm glad that I blog.

Afternoon News and Notes: My internet is cut off again

Living on your own in a new state and trying to hold it down has definitely been a big challenge. I moved to Texas to get to know my father who I've never had a relationship with and also he was supposed to help me get back into school. When things didn't work out at his place so I had to move out on my own and get a job. I am still planning on getting myself back into school but I don't know how just yet. Fall of 2008 is my goal.

Since I've been on my own I've struggled so much with money it's unbelievable. My internet and lights are getting cut off all the time but I'm going to win. This website has been so much fun to run but it's also an experiment to see if I can support myself running my own business.

Fighting for peace

Ok so I've vowed that I was going to make my blog as personal as possible.  So there were no updates today as you guys can see.

I spent the whole day supporting a world peace organization that I am a part of called Soka Gakkai International.  This is what I do now.  Dedicate my life to world peace and writing about sports.  I am going to post a couple of updates tonight before I go to bed.

Changing my theme today

Ok so I will definitely be changing the theme of SportFiends today.  I will be working on it as much as I can at work and then later on home.  When I'm done I would like some feedback.  Thanks.
